Hospice provides end-of-life care to patients and practical support to families in their own homes -- which could mean a private residence, an apartment building, an assisted living facility, or a skilled nursing home facility/nursing home. Well-trained hospice volunteers provide social and emotional support, respite, and comfort care in the patient's familiar surroundings. Hospice training is required.
