Who We Are
Hospice provides whole person/family care at the end of life to patients of all ages and backgrounds.
Hospice is a philosophy of care that embraces the dying process as a natural life experience. Hospice care identifies the total needs of the individual and empowers family and caregivers to provide supportive care in familiar surroundings. A crucial member of the hospice care team is the trained volunteer, who supports and encourages the patient and caregiver in a variety of unique and individual ways.
What We Do
Essentia Health - St. Mary's Hospice is a regional program of excellence that empowers communities to embrace the natural process of dying. If you are looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others, Essentia Health - St. Mary's Hospice may be the place for you!
Hospice has been in existence and a covered Medicare benefit since 1983. Essentia Health - St. Mary's Hospice has provided end of life support to patients and their families for more than thirty years. These patients are supported by a trained team including a Medical Director, RN Case Managers, Bereavement Coordinators, Spiritual Care Coordinators, Pharmacists, Dietitians, Home Health Aides, Social Workers, and well-trained hospice volunteers. Since hospice is a home program, volunteers work with patients where they live, which includes homes, apartments, assisted living facilities and nursing homes. Volunteers may also see patients at Solvay Hospice House. We also need volunteers for office support, to help with special events, and to share special skills like music, crafts, and hobbies.
