Who We Are
The American Red Cross, through its strong network of volunteers, donors and partners, is always there in times of need. We aspire to turn compassion into action so that:
1. All people affected by disaster across the country and around the world receive care, shelter and hope.
2. Our communities are ready and prepared for disasters.
3. Everyone in our country has access to safe, lifesaving blood and blood products.
4. All members of our armed services and their families find support and comfort whenever needed.
5. In an emergency, there are always trained individuals nearby, ready to use their Red Cross skills so save lives.
What We Do
When disaster strikes, Red Cross volunteers are ready to provide assistance to those who have suffered a loss such as a home fire. We are also able to set up shelters if needed in case of a large scale disaster.
We have preparedness programs: The Home Fire Campaign, where we install free smoke alarms in peoples home at no charge to them. We also have the Prepare with Pedro program for disaster resilience /preparedness for K-3rd graders.
We support our military and veterans. We attend the Veterans Stand Downs in our communities. We also provide emergency communications between military members and their families.
We also have volunteers who deploy on national disasters on behalf of the Red Cross.
