Who We Are

Our mission is to provide dignified housing and supportive services to formerly incarcerated individuals. Our vision is to ensure that formerly incarcerated individuals have the opportunity to reach their potential and fully participate in society. We were founded in 2009, soon after our founder was released from Moose Lake Correctional. The organization was based on his experience struggling to attain housing and employment with a felony background. Vita Nova began operating its own housing in 2023.

What We Do

We provide housing to people who are formerly incarcerated. Currently we own one triplex that houses men with felony backgrounds. They typically come to us directly from incarceration, and we offer them their own room, income-based rent, and supportive services. We have house rules structured around parole requirements to ensure that residents are not putting themselves or others in the house at risk of violating parole. It is legal for landlords to discriminate against people with criminal backgrounds. Providing them with safe and supportive housing reduces recidivism, improving community safety. In the coming years, we expect to acquire and develop more housing.
