Who We Are
RSVP takes special care to work with a prospective volunteer in finding an assignment that is tailored to one's interests and available time; provides a chance to share skills and experiences, face new challenges, or learn new skills; and most importantly creates satisfaction in knowing one is making a difference in the community. RSVP provides its registered volunteers with excess accident/liability insurance, assistance with travel expenses when needed, and recognition for service.
What We Do
RSVP engages older individuals in volunteer service to meet critical community needs and to provide a high quality experience to enrich the lives of the volunteers. Arrowhead RSVP began in the Fall of 1972 with a primary focus on senior citizens and their need to become integrated members of the community and build self esteem. By the end of the first project year, RSVP had placed 105 senior citizens in volunteer jobs and had reported 6,976 volunteer hours at 18 locations in greater St. Louis County. RSVP no longer views the senior population as a group sitting back and relying on others to nurture them. They are a strong and ever-growing resource willing to serve. Older Americans have the talents, skills, and dedication to change community life. Today, nearly 1,700 Arrowhead RSVP volunteers serve 240,000 hours annually with 300 nonprofit organizations in St. Louis County (including the City of Duluth), Cook County and Lake County.
