What We Do

It is the responsibility of the Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department to maintain:

  • City parks
  • Dog park
  • Ballfields Playgrounds
  • Boat launches
  • Trails (ATV, snowmobile, cross-country skiing)
  • Urban trees
  • Recreational areas
  • Outdoor ice rinks

In addition to the responsibility of maintenance, the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department provides the following services: Park/ballfield reservations

  • Boat launch permits
  • Canoe/kayak rack rentals
  • Bayside Sounds concerts
  • Summer playground program
  • Winter skating program
  • Adopt-A program and volunteer opportunities
  • Archery hunting permits for City hunting areas
  • Cross-country ski trail permits
  • Special Event permits
