Office support volunteers support patient-care initiatives, Hospice staff, and fellow volunteers by providing clerical support such as data entry, preparing mailings, and typing. There are special projects and events to assist with. We offer a flexible schedule to meet your needs! If you have time to give weekly, biweekly, or monthly, we would love to talk to you.

Hospice provides end-of-life care to patients and practical support to families in their own homes -- which could mean a private residence, an apartment building, an assisted living facility, or a skilled nursing home facility/nursing home. Well-trained hospice volunteers provide social and emotional support, respite, and comfort care in the patient's familiar surroundings. Hospice training is required.  Contact our office 218-786-4020 to schedule training and find out more about Hospice volunteer opportunities.

One benefit of Hospice is grief support is provide for 13 months after a patient dies. The volunteer makes periodic check-in calls to provide support and encouragement to a patient's family. These volunteers support a variety of activities in the Solvay Hospice House including meal preparation and serving, hosting/greeting, music, laundry, visiting with patients or families, and sitting with restless or dying patients (11th Hour Program). Hospice training is required, which is offered every spring and fall. Contact our office to inquire about the next training opportunity. Additional training options are available for college students.
