First Witness Child Advocacy Center is seeking a part-time volunteer who loves gardening and plants for the summer to help up-keep our garden.
We are looking for 5-10 hours a week, but are happy to be flexible for your schedule in terms of hours.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of plant care and an understanding of various plants’ needs
- Interpersonal skills to communicate plant care information to others
- Attention to detail
- Problem-solving and decision-making to deal with gardening problems
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations regarding landscaping and gardening
- Ability to use various gardening tools
- Comfort working outdoors in all types of weather and natural elements
General duties
- Planting all types of plants, including flowers, shrubs and trees
- Maintaining plants by watering, fertilizing and trimming them
- Using and maintaining gardening tools and light gardening machinery
- Identifying and treating diseases, pest infestations and other issues with garden plants
- Cleaning up garden areas
- Providing recommendations for gardens
- Handling edging, mulching and other garden tasks
- Following safety guidelines for applying chemicals and using equipment
