Volunteer: Summer DASH Volunteers and Tutors at Denfeld with DCSCSummer DASH Volunteers/Tutor needed JUNE 15TH - JULY 24TH, 2026 Tutor students during Summer Dash Denfeld High School! As a volunteer: you will support us in providing DASH (Denfeld After School Happenings), a safe space after school for high schoolers.DASH provides a safe space to study, access tutors, and participate in recreation. Days DASH Happens: DASH typically runs Monday- Thursday from 12:30-3:30 pm and Fridays for Field Trips at that same time..….We especially prefer tutors who can consistently attend DASH one or more times per week. This is important because tutoring is most beneficial to students when they see the same tutors every week and can build relationships with those tutors. Volunteers are supervised by the Denfeld Full-Service Community School Coordinator. Tutors for all subject areas are welcome! Math and chemistry are especially desired. You do not need tutoring experience to volunteer with us, and even coaching on basic problem solving and organizational skills are beneficial to our students. You don’t have to consider yourself “smart” to help students- caring adults who are willing to try, motivate, and to learn alongside our students are welcome. Volunteer: Lend a Hand to our Aging NeighborsOur Gentiva Hospice team in Duluth MN is looking for a compassionate volunteer to assist one or two patients in maintaining their independence at home. This role involves light homemaking tasks once a week, such as helping with laundry, taking out the garbage, getting the mail, etc. For many patients, staying at home as their care needs increase is deeply meaningful. It allows them to remain in familiar surroundings, preserve daily routines, and maintain a sense of dignity and control. While family caregivers often provide invaluable support, volunteers can ease the load and help make daily life more manageable. By donating one hour per week, you’ll help create a more comfortable home environment and offer patients the practical assistance they need to continue living independently. Onboarding requires a valid ID, TB testing, drug screening and a background check. Training is provided. Volunteer: Volunteer Helpline and Hospital AdvocatesPAVSA is seeking volunteers to maintain our 24-hour advocacy services. We are dedicated to the elimination of sexual violence in southern Saint Louis County through supporting victims, educating the community, and advocating for change. Our volunteers are critical to supporting victim-survivors in our community. They assist with facilitating our helpline and provide advocacy in the hospital setting during overnight and weekend hours.
Volunteering with PAVSA is a great way to get involved in the community, cultivate your crisis intervention and de-escalation skills, and build knowledge of local resources. In accordance with the State of Minnesota, Statute 595.02, all volunteers must complete a 40-hour Sexual Assault Advocacy Training. PAVSA provides this training at no cost to you and will equip you with the skills you need to be a great advocate! Hospital volunteers are individuals who go to our local hospitals to provide comfort and advocacy when a survivor seeks care there after a sexual assault. Hospital advocates are accompanied by SANEs (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners) - nurses with specialized training in responding to sexual assaults. Helpline volunteers are individuals who talk with survivors on our 24-hour helpline after office hours. They provide validation, support, and resources to survivors over the phone. Helpline volunteers are supported by a "staff backup," a PAVSA staff who is also on call and available to answer questions as they come up. Upcoming Training Completing PAVSA's 40-Hour Training is required to volunteer, but it extends beyond PAVSA. It looks great on a resume, and can open up opportunities for further work in the nonprofit field. Completing the training now can also be great if you're considering interning at PAVSA in the future. Throughout training we cover a variety of topics such as active listening, harm reduction, crisis de-escalation, and more. For more information contact our Volunteer Program Coordinator Amanda at amanda@pavsa.org or complete our volunteer interest form here: https://forms.gle/RiBTjmkV8v5gocm7A Agency: PAVSA (Program for Aid to Victims of Sexual Assault) PAVSA is seeking volunteers to maintain our 24-hour advocacy services.
