Join Chum and make a hands-on impact!

Thanks to the generosity of our neighbors, Chum is constantly receiving donations. At times, our staff needs help keeping everything organized. With help from volunteers, Chum is able to keep donations organized and distributed to programs.  

When: Thursday, March 26th, 2026 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Where: Chum Administration, 21 W 1st St, Duluth, MN 55803
Role: Volunteers will build shelves, sort items, and place donations on shelves, pallets, or in other storage areas. If possible, volunteers will also help create a spreadsheet to help maintain inventory.

Requirements:
 Must be able to lift up to 50 poundsComfortable bending, twisting, using stairs, and sorting itemsPlease bring a lunch!  We'll have light refreshments to keep you fueled. 
Your efforts will directly help us manage incoming donations efficiently, keeping our programs running smoothly for those we serve.

Volunteer: Warming Center Volunteers Needed

The Warming Center is a safe nighttime space for people who are experiencing homelessness or stranded during Duluth’s cold winter months. As many as 100 people will check in to the Warming Center every night, some just to warm up and some to spend the entire night.

Evening Volunteers (7-10pm) help with:

Assist staff with setting up tables, chairs, sleeping mats, and coffee station. Serve coffee and pass out hygiene supplies as needed.Sanitize surfaces as needed Be a welcoming and friendly presence for guests.

Morning Volunteers (7-9am) help with:

Assist staff with collecting and sanitizing sleeping mats.Assist staff with cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, taking down tables and chairs. Be a welcoming and friendly presence for guests, encourage and support them getting packed and moved out by our 8am opening time.
