Who We Are

Providing a program of school and out-of school-time academic, cultural, and social support is an identified strategy for increasing the likelihood that a student will graduate from high school. With this as a long-range goal, we have co-created a partnership of programs which offer tutoring, mentoring, enrichment, and family programs at Myers-Wilkins Elementary School, Lincoln Park Middle School and Denfeld High School.

Known collectively as the Duluth Community School Collaborative (DCSC), these programs work integrally with the teachers and staff to offer high-quality learning experiences for youth and their families throughout the school day and out-of-school-time hours. These programs are offered free of charge.

What We Do

The Duluth Community School Collaborative (DCSC) offers multiple afterschool programs for students focusing on academic and cultural enrichment.

Our vision is for youth and families of Duluth to live in thriving, stable, and safe neighborhoods. Our mission is to foster strong partnerships that expand opportunities for Youth Development, school, family and community involvement, promoting life-long learning, and appreciation of our diversity. The Grant Community School Collaborative was formed in 1997 when representatives of five East Hillside organizations attended the first in a three-year series of workshops sponsored by MN Department of Education entitled Building Collective Community Leadership. It was the beginning of a journey into applying best practices to strengthen academic, cultural, and social assets of neighborhood youth and families. The (Now) Duluth Community School Collaborative is a regional leader in the movement to create Full Service Community Schools serving children and families holistically to support academic achievement, well-being, and success in the many facets of their lives.
