Who We Are

CHUM is a non-profit agency that provides services to address hunger, homelessness, and other needs of low-income community members. We not only provide services to meet the basic needs of our neighbors, but also help people become more stable in their situations and organize and advocate for social and economic justice within our community and beyond. CHUM is supported by a partnership of 40 local congregations.

What We Do

CHUM is people of faith working together to provide basic necessities, foster stable lives, and organize for a just and compassionate community. CHUM began in 1973 when a group of 10 Central Hillside Churches combined efforts to address the needs of central hillside residents during an economic recession. The organization has grown to 40 congregations and continues to provide basic necessities to our neighbors as well as advocacy efforts locally and state-wide to change systems impacting those in poverty.
